Medicare currently provides rebates for dietetic services only for those who are eligible to receive a Chronic Disease Management Plan (also known as an Enhanced Primary Care 'EPC' plan) or Eating Disorders Management Plan from their GP. Your doctor will decide whether or not you are eligible for a plan. The current Medicare rebate provided for dietetic services is $55.10.
In most cases, you will be required to pay the full amount up front. HICAPS facilities are available at some locations for your convenience to allow for your rebate to be processed at the time of your consultation. If HICAPS is unavailable, a receipt will be issued to you to allow you to claim your rebate from a Medicare branch or online once payment has been received. The out of pocket cost is $64.90 for the initial consultation and $9.90 for reviews. Please note we are not a bulk billing practice.
Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) clients
All DVA clients are bulk billed and there will be no out-of-pocket costs. To be seen as a DVA client, you must hold a current Gold Card and be referred from your GP using a DVA Request/Referral form (D904). If you or your family members are concerned about your weight and/or nutritional intake, please visit your GP and ask if you may benefit from a referral to a dietitian. Home visits may be available for DVA clients.
Private Health Insurance holders
If you are ineligible for Medicare rebates or choose to be seen as a private client, you may be able to claim a rebate from your private health insurance fund depending on your level of cover. As each policy is different, please call or visit your local health fund to find out your personal level of cover. HICAPS facilities are available at some locations for your convenience to allow for your rebate to be processed at the time of your consultation. If HICAPS is unavailable, a receipt will be issued to you to allow you to claim your rebate from your health fund once payment has been received.
If you have been allocated funding to see a dietitian under your NDIS plan and you would like to book in, please contact us via phone or email to discuss further. We currently see self-managed and plan-managed participants.
